Alexander the Great was born in 356 BCE in Pella, the ancient capital of Macedonia. He was the son of Phillip II, King of Macedonia, and Olympias, the princess of neighboring Epirus. He spent most of his puerility watching his father turn Macedonia into a great military power, winning victory after victory on the battlefields end-to-end the Balkans. Once he ascended on the Macedonian throne, Alexander quickly ordered his domestic enemies to be killed. Alexander went on to fight much wars and gain more territory. He led The Campaigns in Asia Minor, The Battle of Issus and The Sieges of tire and Gaza. At the peak of his rule, the Macedonian empire would stretch from Macedonia to India.

Alexander the Great died on June 7, 323 BC at the age of 33, in the Macedonian month of Daesius. He did not designate a successor to the Macedonian empire. After his death, the empire fell into civilized war and eventually collapsed on itself.
