The colonists wanted independence from Britain because of many reasons. It all started with the vigorous Neglect. Colonists were, for the or so part, left to look after their own affairs. Trade in the midst of the American colonists and other nations was heavily restricted, and Colonists were to trade exclusively with England, Scotland and Ireland.
