Status of Italian Renaissance Women Between 1350-1650
During the 1300s, Europe and its people were altering. Throughout this
time, people began to question their former musical mode of living. They now thought
that life didnt have to be entirely about working and suffering to get into
heaven, scarcely instead about a more opulent management of life. This new way of thinking
was called humanism and it was materializing. Europe was submission a period
of rebirth of art, literature, culture, and demanding that was lost at the fall of
the Greek and Roman empires. Europe left the pump Ages and crossed into
the Renaissance. Europe was changing itself, but how did this shift trespass
on the women of Europe?
The Middle or Dark Ages was a time fear, but women had legal rights,
freedom, and had the opportunity to do more. They could have got land , much
like men, but they were regarded as prop to their husband or father.
Women could also participate in miscellaneous professional roles in society and attain
a bend of trades.
The Renaissance, however, was much different for women. They were
believed to be substandard to their spouses. Women were, essentially, wives
and mothers to their kidskinren.
Some of their responsibilities include
preparing meals, cleaning, entertaining, having and nurturing children, and
keep the home in order.
Women were thought to be efficacious if they could bear a child, more likely a
son. If the child were, instead, a daughter, they were a disappointment. A
daughter could do nil for her family for she was not physically powerful.
They were believed to be repressive influences on her family and considered a
double burden: the preservation of their chastity and the provision of a dowry
